Side by side in the photo below is a very large Megalodon Tooth at just over 6 inches long and a replica of a near record size Great White tooth at 2 1/2 inches long.
The largest known Megalodon tooth is about 7 3/8 inches in length. There have only been a handful EVER found exceeding 7 inches. The largest confirmed great white shark teeth are less than 3 inches long. As you can see there really isn't much of a comparison, it would be hard to confuse the two.
Also called a white pointer, the great white shark is the largest predatory fish on the planet. It is blue-gray on the dorsal/top part of their body with a white belly/ventral part. This sharkâs heavy torpedo-shaped body is supplemented with tremendous jaws armored with large, sharply pointed serrated teeth. That said, comparing Megalodon instead to the extant great white, and then taking into account that even the white shark slows down considerably at larger, bulkier sizes (7-meter great white, largest ever filmed) from its maximum speed of 30 mph, I estimate a full-grown Megalodon would have a cruising speed similar to that of a sperm whale (3-9.
